Introducing Muse

A brainwave-sensor headband that allows you to master the power of your mind.

From cave paintings to the printing press, quills to pens, typewriters to computer keyboards, and mouse to gesture control. Brainwave-controlled interfaces (BCI) are the next step in the big evolution of technology.  This isn’t science fiction; it’s science available right now.

Imagine being able to see how your mind is really working. Knowing when your brain is running efficiently and improving your focus. In the future, what about using your thoughts to play games or operate appliances. Muse, InteraXon’s brainwave-sensing headband, will be part of this future, changing the way the world thinks.

Muse works with a range of customized apps that we're developing. Our early apps will be focused on building the core of your mind to improve intellectual skills such as memory and concentration, or emotional skills like maintaining composure in high stress situations. Other Muse apps would be just plain fun stuff so you could paint or compose music with your mind or play video games using your mind as the game controller. Our road map includes a variety of applications to enjoy for activities including fitness, mindfulness, stress management, and many more.

There's all the cool stuff down the road too. We're thinking big like making your mind a sort of remote control for entertainment and electronic devices, lighting, transportation, cooking and more.

How does it work?

Imagine being able to have the lights in your home automatically adjust to enhance or counter your mood.  What about using your mind to pour yourself a beer (yup, we’ve actually done that).  Or what about having a BCI that can detect and alert you that your mind is too exhausted to retain what your reading.

Muse is a light-weight, wireless headband with 4 built-in brainwave sensors based on EEG technology used in the medical community since the early 1920s.  These sensors detect the levels, combinations and proportions of the five key types of brainwaves to reflect your most intrinsic state of mind.  Knowing where your brainwaves are and shifting them into the zone you want, increases your brain’s flexibility and resilience—helping you in everyday life.

It's comfortable and easy-to-use.

  1. Just upload one of our custom applications to your smart phone or tablet.

  2. Pop on your Muse. It should rest comfortably on the upper forehead, and sit behind the ears like a pair of eyeglasses. Clear any big tufts of hair out of the way, so that the earpiece of your Muse headband can make good contact with your skin.

  3. Pop in a pair of your favorite ear buds and start the app. The Bluetooth should connect you once the app is running.

  4. Customize your app--choose the length of time you want to spend, the soundtrack and, when applicable, the type of environment.

As you explore the various exercises on the app, Muse provides personalized brainwave tracking and performance tools to guide you . You'll see these in an activity meter, and in metric reports, during and after each use. By introducing various activities and stimuli, you'll also see real time results that can help to make it easier to achieving your short or long term goal.

You'll likely want to use your Muse at home or at work first. It's good to start with 10-15 minutes each day but you'll be able to customize the time you want to spend. It'll take time just like learning any new task or game. The trick is to keep at it.

Thousands of Thoughts A Day--Make Them Count

You have thousands of thoughts in an average day--some are critical, some are trivial. Some may be helping you with the tasks you're performing while many others are counter-productive. Muse can help you make the most of what's going on in your mind so you can master those thoughts and channel them into productivity, creativity, and fun.

Muse comes with our brain trainer application which simultaneously strengthens the cognitive, intellectual and emotional parts of your brain.  And we make it fun and easy too. We took an integrated approach to brain training knowing most of us can’t be our intellectual or cognitive best when our emotions are running high. Drawing on exercises and techniques from around the world, our brain training app promotes healthy brain habits that can:  reduce negative thoughts undermining your success; improve your motivation; allow you to think and respond more effectively; improve self-control and control over your emotions; and enhance cognitive skills like memory, concentration and attention.

Muse shows you how you’re doing as you interact with our brain trainer so you can see your progress during each exercise.  We believe it is important not to judge your progress harshly.  Like any training, it takes practice and commitment so, we also provide ongoing support to keep you motivated.  It isn’t about a final score or beating the clock.  It’s about the way you shift your mind from zone to zone to get the most out of each exercise and your commitment to training your brain over the long-term.

Muse. Changing the way the world thinks.
